Stripers and Beaches

The past 2 weeks consisted of the outer banks and Virginia Beach. The outer banks was pretty much a bust with high winds. No fish but got a few cool photos.

Virginia beach went better w/ some stripers and hickory shad (?????????) caught on fly. Ended up having to do a fly switch to get the shad to leave me alone. Never had that happen down there before. The water was glass calm and it wasn’t exactly freezing.

Not many photos taken in Virginia Beach as I was on little sleep and opted not to take the DSLR out on the kayak.

And I’m back

So I blame the lack of posts on moving to a new place and not because I haven’t been fishing.

Regardless, I am about to post 20-30 photos of some fish from the past couple months over the next few days.

Enjoy. Then its off to OBX for thanksgiving, VB for some rocks, and then to NY to give steelheading a shot.

Smallies and more smallies

Last weekend resulted in one good day of fishing, one bad day, and a broken sage rod (add it to the list of things I have broken lately with a Droid, Kindle, and cracked iPhone).

I opted to not bring the camera wading for fear of breaking it and missed out on a couple of nice fish photos.

Yesterday parker, steve and I floated down the Shenandoah. Parker and I in a canoe and Steve in a kayak. The trip was 8 miles and turned out pretty decent. We did come across a couple very slow areas but also a few great areas. All the fish were taken on poppers.

Here are some photos.

Susquehanna Flats

I made the trip up to the Susquehanna Flats yesterday with fellow TFPR’s Jereme, Nick, and Steve. We spent the full day fishing and well that spot is awesome. I definitely will be making routine trips up there.

The bite started out hot, but was short-lived. All of us were able to hook up almost instantly and get the skunk off. This theme continued throughout the whole day. You would find the fish, and get a red hot bite for 20-30 minutes and then it would shut down. Jereme got the big fish of the day with a striper in the lower 30s. I’m ready to go again.

On a side note, today is my birthday and my wonderful girlfriend Lauren made me a tying table. Check out the photo below.
